Via Violenta is an independent band from Brooklyn that creates complex and well structured melodies by adding outside sounds to their traditional instruments. The painting at left is extremly representative of what you hear from these guys. Their songs make use of dark and earthly tones to create complex harmonies, which are then masked by modern day sounds. It is sophisticated, and relaxing. The singer has a strong voice, but needs a little work on keeping it constant. Other than that, this is a good download, especially if you're a Nada Surf fan.
