Im a 26 year old living in Denver Co ... i have been listening to AM for about 6 years now.. all i wanted to say is they are still my all time favorite band. I can never miss a show when they are in town. they have come along way since their first CD. So give them the respect they deserve

Guh, what respect do they deserve? Their music has been amped up in terms of accessability and dumbed down for ye old average 'Murican teenager who doens't have anything better to do than listen to songs he wants to agree with but hasn't the guts to go along with. Even their Fat Wreck Chords catalogue is pretty weak. I understand the idea that they want to expand thier fan base to get their message out to more people, but what the fuck is up with the lyrics to "Don't Lose Touch"? They violently slap the face of the DIY punk scene they had been a part of, and in my mind cuts off all ties with the ideals and philosophies they once held so dear. And then they bluntly sell-out, another slap. It's just ... god damn it, it's frustrating as hell and it brings tears to my eyes. I hope they vomit when they see their videos on MTV, because they know the DIY punks will never have them back again.

They deserve respect because they are conducting business on their own terms. If the crusts and DIY punks are so concerned with individualism, why do they set forth such strict rules for all of their favorite bands to abide by? Against Me! never abandoned their fans any sooner than the fans declared them as "unfit" for their scene.
