Over the past few years, Sufjan Stevens has set a higher precedent for singer/songwriters in the folk genre by filling his music with intelligent lyrics and rich instrumentals. After the success of his albums Michigan and Illinois, Stevens has made it his goal to create concept albums about each state in America.
