Let's get the Arcade Fire comparison out of the way -- yes, Ravens and Chimes sound a bit like their Canadian counterparts, which is probably because they share the same producer. Although this NYU collective's sound is based on melancholy vocals and haunting instrumentals, they miraculously generate an uplifting harmonic sound. Their debut album Reichenbach Falls should be a staple in every New Yorker's music collection.
